Came across an interesting post discussing georgia giant fish.  I think it’s an interesting and important read if you’re considering purchasing these fish.  Always good to hear from others on their experiences.

Is this fish a magic fish that is capable of growing to 5 pounds?  What is it a hybrid of??

Georgia Giant fish are reported to be a cross between a green sunfish and bluegill.  Their growth is related only to the larger mouth size vs a bluegill.  Georgia Giants spawn only once per year, and most people report stunting over time as a male population is all that develops.

Georgia Giant’s or “GGs” are a type of fish sold by Kens Fish Farms in Georgia.  The fish are reported to grow to 5 lbs, but other than a photo of poor quality that looks to be decades old there is no supporting evidence.
